An anagram (with additions) of the Latin 'veritas', these people are religiously and legally devoted to the truth, and nothing but the truth. Their system of life and law allows for no deviation from absolute honesty, and so causes more than a few problems for Beka Valentine, whose probity has always been of the more flexible variety.
