The New Systems Commonwealth is the largest online and wiki-based reference on Wikia for the television series "Andromeda"

About Andromeda
Intro Screen to Andromeda
Andromeda was conceived by Gene Roddenberry in the early 1970s and posthumously produced on his behalf by his widow Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. Captain Dylan Hunt is a member of the Systems Commonwealth'sHigh Guard; he and his ship the Andromeda Ascendant are frozen in time. They awaken 300 years in the future, where Hunt discovers that the Commonwealth has fallen and the universe has fallen into chaos, with the strong preying on the weak. Deciding to change all of this, Hunt sets out with a new crew to create a new Commonwealth and bring order to a chaotic galaxy. With this impossible task in front of him, Dylan must come up with a way to convince races to sign up while fighting off some of the galaxy's most fearsome enemies, including the Magog (and their god the Spirit of the Abyss) and the Nietzscheans - whilst also dealing with the problems and betrayals of the members of his new crew.

The High Guard is is the space faring arm of the Systems Commonwealth. The High Guard is not only a military force; it is also is the diplomatic corps, which takes care of political and social matters in the Commonwealth, as well as providing mediation services for un-allied planets or warring factions. They are also the dominant power in the known universe, as they have the largest amount of ships, ranging from civilian transports such as the Leviathan Roused Class, science and exploration vessels such as the To Seek, To Find class class, and the massive Glorious Heritage class heavy cruisers. The Commonwealth also maintains the largest number of bases out of any other government or organization in the tri-galaxies, whether they are on planets, asteroids, or Drifts in deep space. Serving in this elite fighting force, which comprises of 2 different yet intertwined branches is a privilege that many young people of all species compete to join. At the height of its power, the High Guard had over 500,000 ships ranging and millions of soldiers and officers.
Before the Magog invasion and the Long Night, the High Guard had not been involved in any major conflicts for over 1,000 years. Thus arose a movement to disband the fleet or at least reduce its size...Read More
