For the most part, they should be summery and plot, because a majority of episodes have a part to do with a much larger story arc, so the episode should be summarized as if it was a stand-alone, but if there are parts in the episode that need a background in order for the reader to understand them, or that relate to a story arc or recurring character or organization, then you should put in more detail about them.
