Dylan tries to mediate things with the Than and the Nietzscheans.
Plot
Rommie is admiring the nice lips she has on her face, which Harper is very proud of. Suddenly, the Andromeda detects a firefight in an asteroid belt. One side is the Than-Thre-Kull, the other is a Nietzschean asteroid homeworld. Several Than Brilliant Carapace class vessel at destroyed by the Nietzscheans. Dylan sees this as an opportunity to put the Commonwealth back on the map. He calls for a ceasefire; the Than agree but the Nietzscheans do not. They fire on Andromeda with a plasma cannon, forcing them to retaliate. While the others go to affect repairs and assist the than, Dylan and Tyr remain on the bridge. The Nietzschean Alpha, Guderian of Orca Pride, introduces himself; he laughs when Dylan mentions he represents the Systems Commonwealth. Guderian asks Dylan to redirect his weapon so they can talk; Tyr tells him its a trap, so he should not let his guard down; Guderian notices Tyr and asks why Hunt keeps a Nietzschean aboard. Dylan responds it is to prove co-existence; they both kept their weapons armed. Guderian invites the two of them over to the asteroid to talk. Once he blips out, Tyr tells him it is a trap, as in the past, Nietzscheans make false attempts of peace to lure High Guard captains to be used as shield against their own ships. He offers to go, saying if he's not back in a day, he must shoot the Nietzscheans and run.
A drop pod floats towards the Orca asteroid. Once inside and opened, Guderian's soldiers open fire. But it's empty. Other pods float in, one of them carrying Tyr. He takes one of the Orcas, Dmitri, hostage. Guderian points out that Dmitri is sterile and is useless. Tyr notes one woman, eying him. However, the woman, Freya, no longer wants Dmitri and will settle for Tyr. The Orcas asks him what pride he is of. He responds he is Kodiak, making everyone laugh at him. He mentions that his pride was betrayed by their allies, including Orca. The pride matriarch, Olma, looks at Tyr's DNA and finds it strong and compatible with Freya's; they welcome him to Orca Pride.
Tyr returns to Andromeda, bringing schematics of the plasma cannon to devise a plan. He also suggests the disabling of the sensors, making them open to attack. Beka doesn't trust Tyr, as Nietzscheans can never be trusted; Dylan does.
Tyr returns to Guderian, presenting him with a force lance and a plan to take Andromeda. Guderian just smacks him, yelling that Tyr is leading them on a suicide mission; he has just 300 combatants while a ''Glorious Heritage'' class has thousands. Tyr concurs, there are only five people on the ship, which can be easily taken.
As Dylan remembers the times when he played three-dimensional chess with his best friend, Gaheris Rhade, who explains how Nietzscheans reproduce, Tyr and Freya consummate their marriage with golden arm rings and then begin having sex. He soon asks her to leave with him and start another pride but she wants to stay and produce new Alphas for Orca.
The Orcas overtake Andromeda, but Dylan initiates a self-destruct to force them off and destroys the plasma cannon. A Than fleet had also just arrive, destroying the Orca homeworld. Hundreds of ''Garuda'' class fighters escape from it. Onboard, Freya is given a choice whether to abort her child or not.
